2004 - 2005 PERFORMANCE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR HS SENIORS
Austin Circle of Theaters will award five scholarships to five high school seniors who plan to attend an institute of higher learning in the area of performance arts and who have demonstrated promise and commitment in performance arts in their high school years. ACoT 2004 – 2005 Scholarship Guidelines FIVE SCHOLARSHIPS WILL BE AWARDED TO FIVE INDIVIDUALS IN THE FOLLOWIING CATEGORIES Performance Scholarships (singing or dancing or acting or music theatre) Technical Scholarship (lighting / sound) Design Scholarship (costume / set) Our goal is to award 3 performance, 1 technical and 1 design scholarship subject to the applicants meeting the criteria in each of these areas. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS All candidates must be in their senior year of high school. All candidates will be required to complete an ACoT application for scholarship. All candidates must be a current member of ACoT.* Applicants must support the arts by volunteering a minimum of 10 hours in ACoT member theatres during the scholarship year. A log of hours must be kept and approved / signed by the organization’s “management”. Feedback will be solicited for all finalists. Volunteer hours must be in a non-school ACoT member organization. (Universities, Colleges excepted.) Applicant must have applied to a post high school institute of higher learning in the area of performance arts. Overall high school GPA must be 2.5 with the overall GPA in core fine arts of 3.0 Applicant must submit two letters of recommendation with application**. Finalists will be required to audition (for Performance scholarship) or provide an interview portfolio (for Tech or Design scholarships). ANNOUNCMENTS OF AWARDS Award recipients will be announced in May 2005. Scholarship monies will be distributed directly to the school the scholarship recipient will be attending upon verification of acceptance. • Some assistance is available to those who have difficulty with the ACoT membership fee.
